USE CASES
Discover new or broken relationships
in your data
Finding insights in single metrics can be
helpful, but often the most valuable insights
are those that deal with the relationships
between metrics. It’s important to understand
these data relationships to showcase the
hidden dynamics of your business—but
getting those insights quickly when your
data is scattered across multiple silos is a
huge challenge.
Outlier automatically tracks when new data
relationships are formed or broken, helping
you recognize patterns and correct
misalignment. For instance, Outlier notified
a multinational financial services company
about a resumed relationship between two
data points: website views for Montreal (city)
and Quebec (province). For several months,
they were in sync. Then, in mid September,
they drastically diverged. Outlier flagged the
change based on year-over-year “normal”
data behaviors. This discovery brought an
important insight to the company: Web
activity for Montreal and Quebec should follow
similar patterns—and any unexpected changes
may indicate a potential problem or shift in
the business.
