Recognizing Pinterest Users
As you know, visuals instantly attract your eye. Your brain understands them
more quickly than the written word and is more likely to respond to them. Posts
with images have a greater response on all the social networks.
To understand the attraction of Pinterest, you need look no further than the home
page. It contains hundreds of images of things you personally like and respond to.
How does it do this? Take a look at getting started with Pinterest and you’ll see
how social media marketing with Pinterest attracts new customers.
As a baseline, it’s important to note that Pinterest users (https://www.fool.com/
investing/2019/03/25/pinterest-ipo-4-key-points-from-the-companys-
finan.aspx) are approximately 66 percent female (majority of users between the
ages of 18 and 64). If women aren’t your target audience, however, don’t turn
away just yet. You have several important reasons to consider Pinterest as a social
media marketing tool:
» Large number of users: As we said, Pinterest continues to grow every day.
You have an active group of women (50 percent have children) who are happy
to re-pin and recommend items as well as buy for family members.
Men are starting to catch up and use Pinterest for organizing information like
travel info and hobbies. Fifty percent of new signups are men (https://
blog.hootsuite.com/pinterest-statistics-for-business/).
» Good distribution tool: Sharing is the order of the day. You never know who
will share something on your website and have it be found.
» Easy sales tools: Selling from the gift section is very easy; you just have to put
a link to your store to sell on your website.
» Excellent showcase: Because of the way the system is constructed, almost
every pin looks good. Why not take advantage of that?
» A lot of time spent pinning: Users typically spend more than 34 minutes
looking around (https://adespresso.com/blog/pinterest-marketing-
statistics/). That’s a long time to hold consumer eyeballs.
