                             Facebook pages


                             Facebook has over 60 million active business pages. Think of Facebook pages as
                             company profiles on Facebook. Everything starts here. You can set up a page for
                             your brand and encourage others to Like it. It doesn’t cost anything to create a
                             business  page,  but  it  does  take  time  and  effort  to  make  the  page  relevant  and
                             worthwhile.

                             Don’t confuse a Facebook page with a personal profile. A personal profile has your
                             name on it and is about you and your friends. A page is devoted to an entity such
                             as a business, charity, or public figure.

                             The first thing you need to do is decide what type of page it will be — for a busi-
                             ness or brand, or a community or public figure.

                             After you’ve selected your type, you need to decide what to add to your page to
                             make it garner attention. If you begin to think like a social media marketer, you
                             want to consider publishing media that includes the following:


                                  » Posts, including location-based posts: Ongoing posts that keep your
                                 community informed are necessities. Post as often as you can, but keep
                                 it relevant.
