Exploring SMM
Strategies for
Facebook
hen you perform your analysis to determine which social platforms
are best for your SMM campaign, you’ll likely discover that Facebook
W(www.facebook.com) is one of the platforms on which you have to
engage. It has had explosive growth in recent years (Facebook now has more than
2 billion users) and is the largest social network in the United States. More than
66 percent of users log in to Facebook every day.
According to Statista.com (https://www.statista.com/statistics/247614/
number-of-monthly-active-facebook-users-worldwide/), approximately
244 million North Americans are active on Facebook on a monthly basis, so it’s
fair to assume that at least some of your customers are going to be on Facebook.
According to Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, you should be
“social by design.” By that she means that SMM should be a part of everything
you do. With this idea in mind, in this chapter we spend a few minutes explaining
how you can develop marketing strategies and use Facebook to grow your audi-
ence and engage your customers.
