Using the WhatsApp Business App
Because of the demand, Facebook created a free business app called WhatsApp
Business so that you can keep your business and personal accounts separate. They
say it was specifically built for the small business owner to automate, sort, and
answer customer messages. There are built-in statistics that allow you to see how
many messages were sent, who read, who answered, and so on.
You can download it to your iPhone or Android from https://www.whatsapp.
com/business/.
Here’s what you need to know to get started after you download and confirm your
phone number and country:
» Business Profile: You’re asked to create a business profile that includes:
• Your business name
• Business category
• Description of your business
• Business hours
• Email
• Web address
» Set up these options:
• Automated messages: This includes a personal greeting and who receives
your messages.
• Quick replies: Set up these messages to deal with frequently asked
questions.
• Short link: If you have a link that you want to send your visitors to, you can
include that here.
• Labels: You can organize your different chat categories by giving them a
label (for example, new customer).
If you’re a small business owner and Facebook Messenger is too big a commitment
for you to manage, you may want to consider WhatsApp.
If you’re already using WhatsApp for personal or business communications, you
need a separate phone number to use with WhatsApp for Business.
